RADIO 1
Artworks produced while working at Acrylicize
My Role: Concept Designer/Artworker
Client: Buckley Gray Yeoman Architects
Brief: To create a reception artwork which references the buildings history as the radio 1 headquarters.
Solution: For this artwork we wanted to up-cycle vinyl records in a way that would relate to the building specifically. We found that, with their slim profile, on their edge they could be used to represent a snippet of a sound wave. We trimmed these so that they appear to be emerging from the wall, as if the music history is embedded in the building itself.
To create a depth and relevance to the piece we chose the last words recorded for Radio at Yalding House, these spoken by Nick Grimshaw on air - 'Bye Yalding House'.
